Perennial & annual pasture system providing liveweight gains

Results from the Gillingarra FEED365 site are in, with cattle grazing the over-sown perennial pastures outperforming those on control paddocks and an added boost in soil fertility, species diversity, dry matter production and groundcover.

WMG focus on soil health and soil testing continues into 2024

Into 2024 WMG will continue its focus on soil health, sharing learnings from the Evolving Soil Testing project and providing new material to assist farmers in evolving their soil testing programs.

Improving the delivery of information on crop K needs

The next phase in the K Extension Project is to transform complex data into practical knowledge for host farmers with the introduction of the K Management Triangle, covering soil testing, plant nutrition, and potassium budgeting.

October sampling rush before harvest

Every August and September at WMG there is a big focus for our big marquee events like the Spring Field Day and Student Crop Walk. Now that the events have wrapped up for the year, my focus moves over to final project sampling for 2023. Project site are spread across the region, ranging from Hill River and Badgingarra to Barberton and Gillingarra.

Passion to purpose on display at 2023 WMG Student Crop Walk

On Saturday 16th of September 42 students from UWA, Curtin University and Murdoch University joined the West Midlands Group for the third annual Student Crop Walk at Velyere Farm. The students were from different backgrounds, studying different degrees, but all had one thing in common: their passion for the Ag Industry.
